The Richmond Hill School governing body has a key role in monitoring the work of the school and ensuring that the leadership of the school is effective in ensuring that all children are making the best progress possible, that they are safe and that the school has a clear strategic direction.  As a school governor we act as the critical friend to the headteacher and the senior leadership team, and provide support and challenge.

The Governing Body meets every term and the Governor’s term of office is 4 years.  No Governors have declared any relevant business and pecuniary interest.

Being a governor at Richmond Hill is both rewarding and fulfilling, we are always pleased to receive comments and observations from parents. In order to facilitate this, any of the governors can be contacted via the school.

We welcome enquiries about joining the governing body and are constantly looking for new governors to diversify our membership in terms of age, skills, life experience and ethnicity.

If you wish to know more, or are interested in becoming a governor, please contact Joanna Loisel, Clerk to Governors on joannaloisel@richmondhill.luton.sch.uk

Welcome from the Chair of Governors:

Clare Hall

Chair of Governors

My name is Clare and I am currently General Counsel and member of the Executive Committee at Equiom (a fiduciary and business support company servicing high net worth individuals and corporate clients) where I am responsible for the global in-house legal and governance function. I have over 20 years’ experience as a lawyer, advising international businesses on a diverse range of legal and contractual matters.

I am a qualified solicitor of the Law Society of England & Wales, having also served on its governing body for a four-year term, an ICSA qualified Company Secretary and a Senior Management Programme graduate of London Business School.

I am a founding professional member and passionate supporter of the 93% Foundation (the UK’s largest state-school social mobility organisation) where I am also a student mentor. I also mentor students aspiring to study law for the Social Mobility Foundation.

Both my parents and my brother are teachers and my youngest daughter has a complex set of special educational needs. I am passionate about the development of education and helping all children achieve their full potential. This passion is one of the reasons I decided to become a governor.

I firmly believe that my career has equipped me with a wide range of skills that will enable me to make a positive contribution to Richmond Hill.

Outside of work, I enjoy walking our labrador called Emma and playing tennis.

I am looking forward to working with the staff, children and families within the Richmond Hill community.

Governors Information

At Richmond Hill School we have three sub-committees - Finance & Health & Safety, Quality of Education and the Pay Committee.  The Pay Committee meets every Autumn term, the Full Governing Body meets every term as well as the Finance & Health & Safety and Quality of Education sub-committees who also each meet once every term.

Governor Diversity

The governors at Richmond Hill School believe it is important that boards reflect the diversity of the school communities they serve.  Diverse boards promote inclusive school environments.

The governors have recently collected data on the diversity of the board and are using that data to inform their recruitment and training needs and to ensure there is a diverse range of perspectives around the table to support robust decision making.
